Online Ecology Conferences
This Specialization will give you rigorous training in the R language, including the skills for handling complex data, building R packages, and developing custom data visualizations. You’ll be introduced to indispensable R libraries for data manipulation, like tidyverse, and data visualization and graphics, like ggplot2. You’ll learn modern software development practices to build tools that are highly reusable, modular, and suitable for use in a team-based environment.

Benefits of Research, Life as a Science Communicator, Using Social Media as a Scientist, Academic Blogging Workshop, Getting paid to go to graduate school in ecology/biology: research fellowships, The ins and outs of scientific publishing for students, Exploring different career pathways in ecology and International Student Opportunities.
Third ESP Europe Conference
Ecosystem Services Science, Policy and Practice in the face of Global Changes
Date: June 7th - 10th
Abstract Submission Deadline: February 15th
Conference Theme
Impacts of Global Changes on ecosystems and human societies are manifold. Changes have led to already tangible impacts, such as Climate Change which has unfolded over the course of the last decade in form of weather extremes, droughts and large wildfires, for example. Along with shifting climate patterns, biodiversity loss is causing structures and functions of ecosystems to be more vulnerable to change, and is altering the supply of vital ecosystem services. Land use and land cover changes as well as global trading and land ownership patterns cause further impacts on social-ecological systems. Such changes often lead to inequality between richer and poorer countries and to the radicalization of politics, which then undermine a society’s capacity to cope with these growing impacts. In this context, ecosystem services science, policy and practice offer tools needed to tackle the challenges ahead. More importantly, the appropriate use of the ecosystems services concept can shift societies and governance systems towards sustainable pathways.
Staying Connected for Conservation in a Changed World: UKOTCF online conference 2021
Date: March 2nd - 10th
Abstract Submission Deadline: 26th January
Conference Theme
Consistently over several years, one of the most frequent enquiries from UKOTs and CDs to UKOTCF has been “when is the next UKOTCF conference?” This is because, as reported by UKOT participants, the conferences have proved invaluable in enabling successful conservation initiatives which would not otherwise have occurred.
Overseas Territories Conservation exists to promote the co-ordinated conservation of the diverse and increasingly threatened plant and animal species and natural ecosystems across all of UK’s Overseas Territories (UKOTs) and Crown Dependencies (CDs). It aims to do this by providing assistance in the form of expertise, information and liaison between non-governmental organisations and governments, both in the UK and in the Territories themselves.
Observing Life in a Changing Ocean: Exploring a ‘Census of Marine Life’ Today
Date: January 27th
Conference Theme
As a community advocate for ocean science and technology in Washington D.C., and as the international secretariat for the Census, COL is convening this symposium to highlight the need and generate excitement for a sustained, collaborative, and systematic program in marine biodiversity research and observation. Such an initiative is critical for addressing ocean priorities of a new administration and a new Congress—from understanding climate to ensuring sustainable fisheries management—and the time is right to advance innovations for ocean and biological observations and to leverage existing initiatives, such as the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, in the United States and beyond. The symposium seeks to create compelling messaging for the new administration and Congress regarding policy and investment to support understanding, monitoring, and sustaining marine biodiversity, and is positioned to be a starting point toward a road map for coordinated biodiversity research and monitoring in the coming decade.
Sussex Ornithology Society Online Conference January 2021
Date: January 30th - 31st
Conference Link/Registration/Agenda
Conference Theme
This year the SOS Annual Conference moves on-line with events taking place on the evenings of 30th and 31st January 2021. We are pleased to welcome guests who will deliver talks on the themes of Bird Migration on the 30th and Inclusivity in the World of Birding on the 31st. The first evening of the conference will focus on the wonders of migration. Samantha Franks from the BTO will present a talk on the declining fortunes of the UK’s Curlews and the work that is being undertaken to conserve them. Simon and Niki from Inglorious Bustards will share the spectacle of the migration at the Straits of Gibraltar and onwards to Africa. On Sunday we concentrate on inclusivity in birding. We have our very own Mya Bambrick to talk to you about the Cameron Bespolka Trust. Nadia Shaikh from the RSPB will talk about the challenges of the lack of diversity in conservation.
