The Conservation Symposium
Date: November 1st - 5th
Abstract Submission Deadline: August 5th
The Conservation Symposium, previously the Symposium of Contemporary Conservation Practice, facilitates the development and exchange of ideas and lessons pertaining to contemporary conservation issues in southern Africa.
The Conservation Symposium serves as a bridge between conservation practitioners, scientists and policymakers in a conducive environment to solve real-world problems. It integrates a broad range of disciplines in a meaningful way and creates or strengthens connections both within and between disciplines. It provides an effective platform for researchers to demonstrate the relevance of their work in addressing real-world conservation problems, and to identify new applied research opportunities and direction. It also provides a platform for training on methods for conservation and monitoring.
The Conservation Symposium 2020 will be a virtual online event, thus expanding its reach worldwide!
International Wader Study Group Virtual Conference 2021
Date: October 8th - 10th
Abstract Submission Deadline: August 16th
Only recently we had the hope to meet in person this year, but the ongoing uncertainties regarding the health emergency have made the decision for us: the IWSG annual conference 2021 will be held online.
The main format of the conference will be similar to the one last year: we will use the Zoom Webinar to host the meeting and ask presenters to submit pre-recorded talks for a smooth running of the conference. Upon agreement with the presenter, the talks will also be available for rewatching for a limited time after the conference. While a virtual conference cannot replace the social aspect of a face-to-face meeting, we intend to offer more possibilities for interactions this year.
